The Branch supports surgical residents and faculty so they can find answers to surgical care problems in low resource settings. A well established partnership with the Canadian Network for International Surgery allows us to provide $10,000 in research funding to up to four surgical residents. Over 12 residents from all disciplines have now undertaken projects in over six countries.
In 2012 a new partnership with Dr. Rick Hodes was formed. This partnership developed from a commitment of Gary and Nanci Segal and the Bring Back Hope event held in April 2012. The collaborative activities which include capacity strengthening initiatives all support the work of Dr. Hodes and improve patient care in Ethiopia.
